Hello Korea
2026.06.23โ€ขViews 95
See your favorite group's comeback stage up close! Attending a music show is a dream for K-pop travelers. But application methods differ by program and agency, and there are some hurdles for foreigners โ€” so it helps to know the ropes in advance. ๐Ÿ”–

๐ŸŽค What music shows are there?

Korea's main music shows are:

Program

Broadcaster

Day

The Show

SBS M

Tuesday

Show Champion

MBC M

Wednesday

M Countdown

Mnet

Thursday

Music Bank

KBS

Friday

Show! Music Core

MBC

Saturday

Inkigayo

SBS

Sunday

Broadcast days can change with scheduling, so check the official website before you go.

๐ŸŽซ Two types of attendance

โ‘  Pre-recording (์‚ฌ๋…น)
A specific artist's stage is filmed before the broadcast. It's what most fans want โ€” the closest view of the stage โ€” but the conditions are strict. You may be required to:

  • Join the official fan club

  • Verify album purchase

  • Bring a lightstick

  • Verify membership

  • Install a designated app

โ‘ก Live broadcast audience
Watching the full show from the seats on broadcast day. You can apply via the broadcaster's website or app, and foreigners can try too โ€” but competition is very high.

๐ŸŽซ Difficulty by broadcaster (for foreigners)

Actual difficulty varies by lineup and timing, but generally:

The hardest

For a first try, we recommend Music Bank, The Show, and Show Champion.

๐Ÿ“ How to apply, by program

๐ŸŽค Music Bank (KBS) โ€” one of the easiest for foreigners.

  • Apply on the KBS official website

  • Applications open the Thursday before, 9:00 AM, until midnight Friday

  • Up to 2 tickets per person

  • Companion's name must be registered in advance

  • Results: announced the following Monday evening, with a text notice

  • Entry: all assigned seats; no entry under age 15; a physical ID is required

๐Ÿ’ก Companion info can't be changed after winning, so enter it accurately.

๐ŸŽค Inkigayo (SBS) โ€” one of the most popular among foreign fans.

  • Apply via the SBS app or the Superstar X app

  • Application period: usually from 2 weeks to 1 week before the broadcast

  • 1 ticket per person, no companion entry, mobile ticket, physical ID required

  • Check results in the app; at entry, both your ID and mobile ticket are checked.

๐ŸŽค Show! Music Core (MBC) โ€” realistically the hardest.
It's often run not as general admission but as a viewer-committee โ†’ audience-ticket lottery:
First, selection for the viewer committee โ†’ then an audience-ticket draw. Competition is very high.

๐ŸŽค Show Champion โ€” mainly uses the Idol Champ app. You often apply after joining an event; relatively accessible for foreigners.

๐ŸŽค M Countdown โ€” mostly via Mnet Plus app events or fan-club applications. Lately, foreigner-targeted events and tour packages run frequently.

๐ŸŽค The Show โ€” relatively small and event-focused; audience competition tends to be lower than other programs.

๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท The easiest ways for foreigners

Realistically, in this order:

  1. General audience application via the broadcaster

  2. Idol Champ / Mnet Plus events

  3. Foreigner-only audience packages (Trazy, Klook, etc.)

  4. Fan-club pre-recording

If Korean phone-number verification is difficult for you, a foreigner-only package is the simplest.

๐Ÿ“ Main recording venues

Program

Venue

Music Bank

KBS New Wing Open Hall (Yeouido)

Inkigayo

SBS Open Hall (Sangam)

Music Core

MBC Open Hall (Sangam)

M Countdown

CJ ENM Studio (Sangam area)

Show Champion

MBC Dream Center (Ilsan, Goyang)

The Show

SBS Prism Tower (Sangam)

โ€ป Venues may change for special broadcasts.

๐Ÿชช What to bring on the day

Must-haves

  • Passport or physical ID

  • Mobile ticket

  • Winning text message

  • A charged phone

Nice to have

  • Official lightstick

  • Power bank

  • Water

  • A light snack

โš ๏ธ Photos of your ID, copies, or screenshots are often not accepted.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips from real Korean fans

  • On days with popular groups, just waiting to enter can take over an hour.

  • Music shows are free but very competitive.

  • Applying to several programs at once improves your chances.

  • Filming during recording is mostly prohibited.

  • Bring sunscreen and water in summer, hot packs in winter.

  • Official fan-club members get far more pre-recording chances.

  • Buy a lightstick in advance rather than at the venue.

๐ŸŽ‰ In one line

Korean music show attendance is a special chance to see K-pop stars up close, for free. For a first try, aim for general admission like Music Bank or Inkigayo; if you've joined a fan club, try a pre-recording. With a little preparation, you can experience a side of K-pop culture that's different from a concert.
